The Society has the most extensive collection of images related to the communities along the Old York Road corridor.  In addition to its general collection of some 15,000 images, the Society has the following designated photographic collections:

Abington High School Photographic Collection, 1916-1970 – collection of the Abington Senior High School.  Images include school groups (for the year book), school buildings.  Collection contains original prints, 500 images. 

Abington Township Police Department Photographic Collection, 1948-1982 – official police department photographs.  Images include accident and crime scenes, mug shots, and fingerprints.  Collection contains film negatives and some prints, 2000 images. 

Nan S. Bers Photographic Collection, 1990-2001 – society photographer.  Images include social events throughout the area attended by local personages which appeared in the social/people section of the local newspapers.  Collection contains original film negatives and prints, 3000 images. 

William T. Bitting Photographic Collection, 1896-1907 – amateur photographer.  Images record landmarks beginning at Broad and Butler Streets in Philadelphia and continuing through Germantown, Branchtown, Shoemakertown, Jenkintown, Weldon, Willow Grove, and Fitzwatertown to the Bitting summer home in Dresher.  Subjects include estates, churches, townscapes, and Willow Grove Park.  Collection contains original negatives and prints, 200 images. 

Salvatore A. Boccuti Photographic Collection, 1979-2006 – professional aerial photographer.  Images include aerial and ground views of many development projects located through the Delaware Valley.  Collection contains original film negatives and some prints, 60,000 images. 

Cheltenham Police Department Photographic Collection, 1909-1922 – official police department photographs.  Images include accident and crime scenes, mug shots, and fingerprints.  Collection contains glass plate negatives, film negatives and some prints, 5000 images. 

Robert J. Clark, Jr., Photographic Collection, 1972-1998 – professional photographer who worked for the Upper Moreland School District for a number of years.  Images include school teachers, officials, students and activities as well as some more general photographs of Upper Moreland Township.  Collection contains negatives and prints, 10,000 images.  

John H. Deming, Jr., Photographic Collection, 198x-2013 – amateur photographer specializing in the American County House.  Images include buildings, architectural details and landscape for estates, country houses and other buildings throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.  Collection contains film negatives and prints, 3000 images. 

Earnest S. Eddowes Photographic Collection, 1960-1970 – professional staff photographer for Montgomery Newspapers.  Images include people, activities, events and sites throughout eastern and central Montgomery County.  Collection contains film negatives and prints, 12,000 images. 

Walter Ellis Photographic Collection, 1900-1925 – amateur photographer.  Images include landscapes, family groups (apparently recent immigrants), and residents of eastern Montgomery County.  Collection contains glass negatives and prints, 100 images. 

Norman J. Fesmire Photographic Collection, 1960-1985 – amateur photographer.  Images include buildings and sites throughout the Delaware Valley but primarily in and around Lower Moreland Township.  Collection contains negatives and prints, 1200 images. 

Arthur T. Gentile Photographic Collection, 1981-1987 – professional photographer.  Images include people and events primarily in Lower and Upper Moreland Townships, Hatboro and the areas of Horsham and Lower Bucks County.  Collection contains original film negatives, 7000 images. 

Lester D. Guy Photographic Collection, 1970-1990 – newspaper photographer.  Images include area people and events with emphasis on Abington Township.  Collection contains original film negatives and copy prints, 1500 images. 

The Intelligencer Newspaper Photographic Collection, 1980-2010 – newspaper published in Doylestown whose photographic morgue covering Montgomery County has been sub-divided into two groups: general subject photographs (5000 images) and sports (2000 images).  Collection contains original prints, 7000 images. 

Robert C. Lee Photographic Collection, 1960-2006 – commercial and newspaper photographer.  Images include newsmakers and events throughout eastern Montgomery County and the wider region.  Collection contains original film negatives and prints, 90,000 images. 

Joseph Marchetti Photographic Collection, 1976-1990 – commercial, newspaper, and portrait photographer.  Images include Abington and Jenkintown political leaders, area fire companies and Abington Memorial Hospital.  Collection contains original film negatives and copy prints, 3000 images. 

Montgomery Newspapers Photographic Collection, 1970-1998 – newspaper publisher whose photographic morgue has been sub-divided into four groups: photographs that were taken for the Times-Chronicle (6000 images, 1994-1998), the Public Spirit (15,000 images, 1974-1998), Montgomery Newspapers Sports Department (10,000 images, 1976-2005), and miscellaneous (4000 images, 1920-2000).  Collection contains original film negatives, prints and digital images on CD rom, 35,000 images. 

John W. Ridpath Photographic Collection, 1890-1910 – early Jenkintown pharmacist, newspaper publisher, borough government official, and amateur photographer.  Images include local scenes of eastern Montgomery County as well as some domestic scenes of late Victorian home-life.  Collection contains glass negatives, original prints, contact prints, and slides, 650 images. 

William M. Ridpath Photographic Collection, 1906-1935 – son of John W. Ridpath, was an engineer by profession, working for six years on the Panama Canal.  The majority of the images are of the building of the Panama Canal and related aspects of life in Panama.  Additional images include local scenes and Philadelphia views.  Collection contains glass negatives, original prints, contact prints, 350 images. 

W. Scott Roman Photographic Collection, 1996-2006 – newspaper photographer for Montgomery Newspapers.  Images include Eastern Montgomery County events and sports.  Collection contains original film negatives, slides and digital images on CD rom, 4000 images. 

Richard H. Rothe Photographic Collection, 1895-1930 – a gardener for the Elkins and Kemble families before moving to Maine where he worked from 1905 to 1912 for the Mt. Desert Nurseries, returned to Glenside and operated his own business, Glenside Hardy Flower Gardens, which constructed rock gardens for many of the area estates.  Images include garden views of estates in Eastern Montgomery County, Philadelphia and the western Main Line, family scenes and views on Mt. Desert Island, Maine.  Collection contains lantern slides and color prints of all, 250 images. 

John Gibb Smith Photographic Collection, 1900-1935 – photographer who specialized in Philadelphia transportation.  Images include scenes all along the Old York Road from Philadelphia to Willow Grove.  Collection contains prints, 100 images. 

William H. Sliker Photographic Collection, 1905-1915 – professional photographer based in Bridesburg (Philadelphia) who took street scene and building photographs throughout the region, many images being printed as real photo postcards (postcards by Sliker are separately maintained in the Society’s postcard collection).  Collection includes views in Huntingdon Valley, Southampton, Frankford, and Bridesburg.  Collection contains glass negatives and prints of all, 270 images. 

Harry J. Utzy, Jr., Photographic Collection, 1926-1985 – commercial, portrait, and news photographer, active in Jenkintown area, also photographer for the Alaska Highway construction (1942-43).  Collection contains glass negatives, original film negatives and prints, and many earlier negatives and prints collected and restored, 20,000 images.
