Old York Road Historical Society covers the history of the communities along and adjacent to Old York Road from Philadelphia to New Hope with special emphasis on eastern Montgomery County. The society is the major historical repository for the townships of Abington, Cheltenham, Lower and Upper Moreland, and the boroughs of Bryn Athyn, Hatboro, Jenkintown, and Rockledge.

The spring portion of the 2025-2026 Lecture Series continues on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:30PM as Donald Scott Sr. presents Camp William Penn. Please join us in person at Abington Friends Meeting or virtually on Zoom. Looking forward to seeing you there!

The Spring 2026 issue of The Corridor is available! Find a copy of the Spring issue here or stop by the Society to pick one up.

Do you have your passport yet?

The Old York Road Historical Society is proud to be part of the Greater Whitemarsh History Collaborative.

Following along the routes from Germantown to Philadelphia these sites and historical societies emerged in and around the area where the Revolutionary War battles of Whitemarsh and Edgehill occurred. It is the goal of the Collaborative to share the early history of the Nation’s founding during this historic year, but to continue to tell the stories of the resulting battles, as well as the people, places, and events that have come to define our communities for the last 250 years.

The multi-site book provides the opportunity for interested individuals to somewhat follow along the 1777 path of George Washington and the Continental Congress to discover information that shaped the course of history by visiting sites, societies, and/or related programs to learn more about the area’s rich heritage and the places that preserve those stories.

Visit each site’s location or event to get your passport stamped. Passports can be obtained at the Society. For more information visit the Collaborative’s website.
